6 + 1 Superb Spots In Budapest For Potentially Awkward First And Last Dates

1. Fleischer

If you’re looking for an elegant and unpretentious restaurant, you’ll find it here. Delicious and creative food in a tapas bistro setting. At Fleischer, you don’t go in for a coffee, you go in for a proper meal and a good drink. So we don’t really recommend it for your first Tinder date. Go there once you’ve known each other for a bit, and sparks are going off.

Quiet during the day, bustling at night. A bit of a “Midnight in Paris” movie vibe. There’s a slight time travel effect, dropping you into a 19th century parallel universe to help push you through awkward or nervous moments.

A bar next to the French Institute, near Dunapart. It works well for the soulless business meeting, a romantic wine tasting, a quick croissant/cappuccino combo in the morning, a nightcap, or a first and last date. The waterfront is gorgeous with views of the Parliament. It’s one of the most charming parts of the city to walk around.

All hours, day or night. In winter, in summer. Weekends, weekdays. Inside or on the terrace. Retreating to work or think. Or going out to celebrate with friends. Stopping for a good coffee, eating great food, drinking with dignity. Get together or break up! The Bartók’s varied yet constant ambiance is always a good bet. To get a feel for its dynamics, all you have to do is come regularly.

One of Budapest’s most sought-after tourist destinations. It is an internationally famous ruin bar and nightclub. Its lesser known little sister is Szimplamini —a 1 minute walk from the main entrance of the big Szimpla. Similar design, yet more family friendly, a bit different. Don’t save the deep conversations for this place. The place goes nuts on weekend nights. However, it’s the perfect environment to let you loosen up. Always great music and a wild atmosphere, yet it remains a dance bar, not a nightclub.

One lap walking around Margaret Island is just enough time to get to know each other better without raising expectations. It’s also the right amount of time to gather your thoughts for a polite goodbye. We hope that you’ll enjoy your stroll regardless! There are also plenty of comfortable areas to sit down for a picnic in the shade, bright meadows for ball games, Japanese gardens to admire, a singing/dancing water fountain for entertainment, and cosy terraces for drinks. The soothing riverside hugs the jogging track all around the island.

We prefer not to say too much about ourselves. We’re always here to help make your evening run smoothly, whatever your purpose. Our regulars know: what happens at Parlé stays at Parlé. Join us to give your rendezvous good undercurrents with wine and a friendly atmosphere.
